ACTIVE CASES NOW BELOW 5 LAKHS, RECOVERIES CROSS 80 LAKH MARK

In the fight against the global pandemic, India has crossed several landmark milestones. For the first time in 106 days, the active caseload of India has fallen under the 5 lakh mark. Presently the active caseload is 5.73% of total positive cases and the number of recoveries has increased considerably. As compared to 28th July when active cases were 4,96,988, there has been a drop in this number and now active cases stand at at 4,94,657.

Aggressive testing and strict 'test-track-treat' strategy has resulted in sharp decline in national cumulative positivity rate and the rate of spread of infection has been effectively contained. Promotion and observance of Prime Minister’s Jan Andolan campaign has been very instrumental in curbing the spread of the virus in India while several countries across the globe are reporting a surge in the number of new cases. India has scaled unprecedented peaks where the recoveries have crossed the 80 lakh mark and cumulative tests 12 crores.

Timely tracking, quick surveillance, rapid testing and effective hospitalization has widened the gap between recoveries and positive cases and recoveries are now outnumbering new cases. This has been possible because of the collaborative efforts of States/UTs and selfless service of doctors and all other frontline workers.

27 States/UTs have less than 20,000 active cases, 8 States/UTs have more than 20,000 cases while Maharashtra and Kerala have active cases more than 50,000.

The recovery rate has seen a boost and presently stands at 92.79%. The total number of recoveries stand at 80,13,783 and there is a gap of 75,19,126 between Recovered cases and Active cases. There is a considerable decline in mortality rate as more number of people are responding to medication and are recovering quickly.

In the last 24 hours 44,281 new cases have been reported and 50,326 active cases have recovered over this time period. In another achievement, India has crossed 12 crore cumulative tests. In the last 24 hours 11,53,294 tests have been conducted and this rapid testing infrastructure has led to early identification, quick isolation and hospitalization of the infected population to curb transmission of the virus to the non-infected.

77% of the new recovered cases in the past 24 hours are from 10 States/UTs. The state with highest number of recoveries is Maharashtra with 6,718 single day recoveries followed by Kerala with 6,698 and Delhi with 6,157 recoveries.

However new confirmed cases have been reported in the last 24 hours in the country and 78% of these new cases are concentrated in ten States/UT. Delhi is leading the number of new active cases with 7,830 cases followed by Kerala with 6,010 cases.

India’s case Fatality Rate has reduced significantly over months and total case fatality rate stands at 1.48%. 79% of fatalities have been reported in 10 States and UTs in the past 24 hours and 512 deaths have been registered in the past 24 hours.
