India records 27,254 new COVID-19 cases, down by 4.7%

India on Monday registered nearly 27,000 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, pushing the total infections' tally to 3,32,64,175, according to Union Health Ministry. The fresh Covid-19 cases reported on Monday are down by 4.7 per cent than the number of infections India logged on Sunday.

 

 

According to the Ministry,the top five states that have registered the maximum number of cases in the past 24 hours are Kerala at 20,240 new COVID cases. Kerala is followed by Tamil Nadu with 1,608 cases, Andhra Pradesh with 1,190 cases, Karnataka with 803 cases and West Bengal with 751 cases. In the past 24 hours, India logged 219 deaths due to Covid-19, taking the death toll to 4,42,874. The maximum casualties were reported in Kerala (67), followed by Maharashtra with 46 daily deaths. Nearly 90 per cent of the new cases were reported from these five states, with Kerala alone responsible for 74.26 per cent of the new cases.

India's recovery rate now stands at 97.54 per cent after a total of 37,687 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, which brings the total recoveries to 3,24,47,032 across the country. India's active caseload stands at 3,74,269. In the last 24 hours, active cases have declined by 10,652.

India has administered a total of 53,38,945 doses in the last 24 hours, which brings the total tally of doses administered to 74,38,37,643. A total of 12,08,247 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

The testing capacity across the country continues to be expanded. The last 24 hours saw a total of 12,08,247tests being conducted. India has so far conducted over 54.30 Cr (54,30,14,076) cumulative tests. While testing capacity has been enhanced across the country, Weekly Positivity Rate at 2.11% remains less than 3% for the last 80 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be2.26%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below3% for last 14 days and below 5% for 97 consecutive days now.
