Delhi government to vaccinate over 8000 health workers each scheduled day

Post DCGI’s approval for restricted emergency use of the  vaccine in the country, the Centre has provided the Delhi government with 2.74 lakh doses of the vaccine so far which would be sufficient for 1.2 lakh health workers and  more vaccine doses are expected to arrive soon.

 

Chief Minister Kejriwal said that the Delhi government has completed all preparations for rollout of the Coronavirus vaccine from January 16 and over 8000 health workers would be vaccinated each scheduled day.

Vaccination will begin at 81 centres on Saturday and the number of centres will be increased after a few days to 175 and finally 1000.The vaccine will be administered on four days of the week-Monday,Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Each day the vaccine will be administered to 100 people and hopefully the vaccine will help combat the virus.

Bharat Biotech  successfully air-shipped Covaxin to 11 cities- Ganavaram, Guwahati, Patna, Delhi, Kurukshetra, Bengaluru, Pune, Bhubaneswar, Jaipur, Chennai and Lucknow and has also donated 16.5 lakh doses to the Government of India.

India's drugs regulator DCGI approved Covishield, manufactured by the Serum Institute of India, and indigenously-developed Covaxin, for restricted emergency use in the country.
