Megastar Amitabh Bachchan tests positive for COVID-19, Hospitalised at Nanavati Super Specialty with mild symptoms

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who tested positive for COVID-19 is stable with mild symptoms, according to media reports. He is currently recovering in the isolation unit of Nanvati Super Specialty Hospital here. His Tweet Number-3590 on Saturday evening came as shock for millions of his followers and well wishers. 

"I have tested Covid positive, shifted to hospital, hospital informing authorities, family and staff undergone tests, results awaited," he wrote. His son actor Abhishek Bachchan has also tested positive.  Abhishek also tweeted that he had also tested positive.

Amitabh is stable with mild symptoms and is currently in the isolation unit of the hospital, media reported, quoting a public relations officer for the hospital. Senior Bachchan has urged anyone who had been close to him in the past 10 days to get tested. The rest of the Bachchan family - actors Jaya Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and daughter Aaradhya - have returned negative coronavirus antigen test reports, according to media reports. 

In recent months, he has been prominent in helping the government get its message across in the fight against coronavirus. India has seen a sharp rise in the number of coronavirus cases, with the total climbing to nearly 821,000 on Saturday - the third highest caseload in the world. 

Bachchan had announced that he would keep on updating on status. 

Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee and several prominent leaders and actors have wished speedy recovery to actor Amitabh Bachchan. 

“Dear Amitabh ji, I join the whole Nation in wishing you a quick recovery! After all, you are the idol of millions in this country, an iconic superstar! We will all take good care of you. Best wishes for a speedy recovery,” Union Health Minister tweeted.

Amitabh was last seen in Shoojit Sircar’s comedy-drama Gulabo Sitabo alongside Ayushmann Khurrana, while Abhishek’s debut Web series Breathe Into The Shadows released on an online video streaming platform on Friday. The senior actor had been shooting from home and had shot for a couple of ads and apparently, even a promo for the next season of his TV quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati.
